Peter’s career has been dedicated to leading the development of technology innovation and change for new ventures. For 25 years he led early to mid-stage startups in Silicon Valley as well as open innovation ‘spin outs’ and ‘spin ins’ in traditional organisation in international settings. He has developed innovative new products and services for dozens of organisations in a wide range of roles from his career beginnings in engineering to executive management in programs , architecture & design, product management and change management.
Peter applies his leadership style to drive customer value using a combination of his experience and leading edge approaches such as Open Innovation in the commercialisation of new technology. His time in Silicon Valley has provided him with hands on experience applying the Lean Start-up ‘cookbook’ and design thinking as promoted by UC Berkeley and Stanford Universities. He takes an ‘ecosystem & platform’ approach to new products & ventures based on the belief to maximise value requires diverse partnerships as ‘not all the smart people’ work in one organisation. Peter's most recent learnings will be an in residence Executive Program in Social Entrepreneurship at the Stanford Graduate School of Business Center for Social Innovation.
Prior to his recent roles, Peter was a co-founder and Chief Architect in a number of Silicon Valley and Sillicon Alley (NYC) startups including Jamcracker and Appareon as well as digital spinoffs at Skymall and APL Logistics. Peter learned about startups and agile delivery in these Silicon Valley organisations where he held roles such as Chief Technology Officer, Chief Architect and VP of Engineering. He has also held Executive positions as the ‘Silicon Valley guy’ in traditional Fortune 100’s, delivered enterprise class ‘as-a-service’ offerings to companies such as McGraw Hill, Nike, Dell, Philips and Levi Strauss and led the design and delivery of national government programmes in security and eHealth where he established the national identifier and authentication services for Australia.
Peter is currently completing a Master of Business Administration (Technology) with the University of New South Wales. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Business and Marketing Summa Cum Laude at American Intercontinental University. Peter holds patents in XML global device independent deployments for cloud computing. He is a Mentor to UNSW Business School Peter Farrell Cup and was mentor to the 2015 People’s choice award winner. He also recently attended the 1st World Open Innovation Conference (2014) - Garwood Center for Corporate Innovation, Haas School of Business, University of California, Berkeley, USA
